Taken from the News-Gazette on August 29th, 2007.This new billboard is located on Kirby Avenue in Champaign. It changes messages every 10 seconds. People are complaining because it is big and visually, doesn't fit in with it's surroundings.
On April 3rd, the Champaign city council approved the change to the city ordinance to allow for this billboard "of the future".
One councilwoman argues that the billboard is located in a commercial district. However, two other council people say that they want to "revisit the issue" to "require a larger setback so that it is away from other zoning districts".
