Using the pen tool

This is an image that I found in a web design book that I took out of the library. I am using it for my blog this because the topic of my Adobe tutorial was using the pen tool.

If I were to open this picture in illustrator I would be easily able to trace the objects with my pen tool. By adding a layer to my project I can trace the buildings with my pen tool using anchor points and then fill them in with black. The result would be a composition that would have the blue planet as a focal point.

The tutorial did stress that mastering the pen tool is the way to master Illustrator (as heard in class).
