PAUL RAND
Paul Rand was a very well-known graphic designer. He is best known for his work designing logos and trademarks. These two examplesare probably familiar to you.
The Westinghouse logo was developed in 1960 and was used by Westinghouse for many years. The artwork on the right was said to have brought a "playfulness" to an otherwise conservative IBM.
Paul Rand lived from 1914-1995 and has been called a "Master of modern American graphic design" He was a "second generation modernist who introduced modern art to corporate identity." To consider his work, think about where corporate identities would be if it were not for the introduction of modern art and it's impact on reaching their goal of profitability.
